RSMS is going GREEN!
by Angie Gillette - Tuesday, 21 October 2008, 02:14 PM

Faculty, Staff, Parents, and Students

Mrs. Sharp’s special education class “Friends Making a Difference” is helping the school “GO GREEN”. They have opened a Recycle Center inside the school and a Paper ONLY Recycle Bin in the parking lot of the school. The recycle center in the school will be collecting cans, plastic, and paper. The outside bin for Paper ONLY is located at the front corner of the parking lot. You may drop off paper items, such as paper, magazines, junk mail, phonebooks, newspapers, and etc. No Cardboard. Every time we fill the large bin in the parking lot, the school will receive $30. That is $10 per ton of paper. Please feel free to tell your employers about our endeavor and ask them if they would like to partner with us in our paper recycling effort. They can send their paper items to the bin in the front of the school as well.  The students in Mrs. Sharp’s class will be taking care of the recycle center throughout the year. They have also done a research and informational project on the topic of recycling and they will be presenting that information to their peers in the regular education classrooms. They are very excited about this and hope that you will help them in our adventure to help preserve our resources.

Later in the school year we will be having “recycling competitions” for communities and grades with fun prizes. I’ll inform you more about it closer to time. School communities will also be competing for the “Go Green Award” to be given at our Rallies. The students in Mrs. Sharp’s class will also be making interesting items made with recyclables that they will be selling to raise money for different charities and groups including the PTSA.

Please join us in our “Go Green” campaign.
