CHARGE PROCEDURE
For School Lunch
The Scott County Board of Education’s School Lunch charge procedure is that no more than five meals (a combination of lunch and /or breakfast) can be charged by any Preschool or Elementary student of the Scott County School System. Students with outstanding accounts will not be allowed to purchase ala carte items, nor milk or juice. Ala Carte items cannot be charged.
Upon three (3) charges, a phone call or letter will be provided to the parent as a courtesy, to let them know their child can not receive the regular menu items upon the fifth charge. If a phone call is not possible a letter will be given to the child’s teacher to be sent home with the child that day.
After the fifth (5) charge, only a sandwich and milk will be offered, as a courtesy. After the fifth courtesy offering, no other food can be provided. When this occurs, the Family Resource Coordinator will be notified to set up a home visit with the family.
A copy of the list of students needing the courtesy offering will be given to the teacher of those students, each morning. Teachers will discretely discuss with the student, prior to meal time, that they cannot receive the regular meal that day in the cafeteria.
No charges for meals or other items are allowed at the Middle or High Schools. A courtesy offering may be provided up to five occurrences only. When this occurs, the Youth Service Center Coordinator will be notified to set up a home visit with the family.
Please also be notified, federal lunch program regulations specify that absolutely no charges by adults are permissible. |
